Microsoft beefs up cybersecurity with AI

Microsoft introduces Security Copilot as the latest in its series of AI-powered tools designed to help cybersecurity professionals detect attacks.

The first of its kind to integrate generative AI into incident response, it uses large datasets and language models to generate patterns and content like images, text, and video.

Microsoft says the tool can process 1,000 alerts, identify the two incidents that matter in seconds, and reverse-engineer malicious code to help analysts better understand potential threats.

Security Copilot combines OpenAI's GPT-4 technology with Microsoft's own cybersecurity-trained model, which includes the company's global threat intelligence.

The tool is expected to be used in conjunction with Microsoft security products such as Sentinel. 

The tech giant also emphasized AI data protection and privacy, ensuring that customer data is not used to train foundational AI models.

The system will be available in a private preview to select clients before being released more widely.
