😏 Elon's planning on a ChatGPT rival

Here's the 4-1-1 from The Information: Elon's on the recruit.

He's been talking to AI researchers about forming a new lab to build a ChatGPT alternative.

His current top man for the job is Igor Babuschkin who used to work for DeepMind, an Alphabet subsidiary focusing on AI.

What are they planning to build exactly?

No specifics yet, but according to Fortune, it's a 'more reliable language model'.

Whatever it is, it's still in its infancy. When asked, Babuschkin said: "The goal is to improve the reasoning abilities and the factualness of these language models."

Elon has been tweeting and saying real interesting stuff about AI / OpenAI / ChatGPT lately, so everyone's definitely on the lookout for his own plans with AI.

🏆 AI is helping fight child trafficking

People are using AI to do superhero work these days. In an episode of the AI in Action podcast, Gretchen Stewart, a Chief Data Scientist at Intel, talked about how they were able to use facial recognition AI to help Interpol find missing kids. Really incredible stuff!

🎙️ Meanwhile, in other podcasts...

  • What is the goal of artificial intelligence? Initially, just to recreate human abilities. But that's not how things are progressing. AI is developing differently from human intelligence. Goals should change accordingly.

  • LLMs are getting phishy. Advanced models can 'talk' to IT departments, get data to access systems, and use that data to hack in. Companies need to invest training employees on best practices in security.

  • AI is helping speed up vaxx development. Every step of the way, from preclinical steps to conducting clinical trials faster. AI is being used in interpreting data, profiling, and more.

MORE AI NEWS

🏀 AI might be able to help with referee calls. Research shows that sports processes can be more efficient, trustworthy, and fair with the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. (It sure would've helped that Lakers vs. Celtics kerfuffle last month!)

📻 How do you feel about AI generated radio? A tool called RadioGPT can scan social media to find out what's trending locally, use AI to generate scripts and even voices to make a radio show. Stations just have to air it and voila! Instant programming!

🙅‍♀️ There's no such thing as a free AI image generator. Ok, there is--but scammers could be using the ol' 'generate a free AI image' trick on mobile users to get you (and your kids!) to install malicious apps on your phone.
