THIS IS BIG

😰 AI's Got Elon Musk Stressed

If you're the richest man on the planet and something's stressing you out, it's bound to make the news.

Which is why today's news is about how artificial intelligence is stressing Elon Musk out.

He said this during this year's Tesla Investor Day where he didn't really give any specifics (causing stock to plummet, and most news outlets reporting on his 'stressed' quote instead) even if he called it his 'Master Plan 3.'

On the matter of AI, he did point out that they're not using AI to build cars yet, and if they were, then "there's no point in any of us working."

But what's really getting him stressed about AI is how there's no regulatory authority overseeing AI development for this "dangerous technology" (also an Elon quote.)

👋 Is AI humankind's 'last invention'?

While many people think that it might be, especially as we all start to see and experience just how advanced LLMs are, the hosts of Adventures in Machine Learning podcast aren't that sold: "That could happen many thousands of years later."

🎙️ Meanwhile, in other podcasts...

  • AI has a massive impact on physics. As in, it's possible to predict what's happening in the universe with near-perfect accuracy. And the more we make them perform better, it could end up outsmarting people.

  • Need more 'non-traumatic data'. AI is certainly being leveraged in healthcare, but these systems usually get data when people go to the doctor, so it's pretty hard for AI to make predictions off of people's worst days.

  • There's not gonna be one 'mega model.' At least that's not what all people involved in AI think. Some think personalized AI is the way to go: "a model that's trained on data from you, specifically for you."

📺 YouTube also has AI plans. I mean, who doesn't? But their AI plans include features like putting creators in 'fantastical film settings' and even swapping outfits! They're pinning these as part of their 2023 plan, so stay tuned!

🖼️ You can generate AI art and mint them into NFTs. You have Binance's newly-launched, awesomely-named Bicasso to thank for that. People were quick to flock it, of course, minting 10k NFTs in 2.5 hours.

🍻 Brewers asked ChatGPT for a beer recipe. And brewed it! Not only have they brewed it, they've started selling it! So if that cold one you surprisingly enjoy is called AI IPA or Robo Beer, you have artificial intelligence to thank for that brewski.

👩‍🏫 AI tutors have arrived. Quizlet's using OpenAI's ChatGPT API for their new chatbot that will give students a more conversational learning experience than current online learning methods. Which would you prefer? A robot teacher or a robotic one?

🕵️ Can you tell if this is AI-written? It isn't--but you can potentially train yourself to do so if you play 'Real or Fake Text?' an online game created by researchers to train humans to spot, well, real or fake text.
