AI language models can do amazing things, but they come with a new set of risks that we need to be aware of. 

These models are kind of easy to misuse and deploy as powerful phishing or scamming tools. Scarier still: no programming skills needed.

Here are three ways that AI language models are open to abuse:

  • Jailbreaking - models can be used for malicious purposes through "prompt injections," which direct the language model to ignore its safety guardrails.

  • Phishing - models are vulnerable to scamming and phishing attacks when they interact with the internet. 

  • Data Poisoning - models can be attacked even before they are deployed through data poisoning, where attackers can poison the data set that goes into training large AI models.

Tech companies are still working on fixes so for now, just stay alert and keep safe out there!
